Would you pay US$ 7,000 per night for this hotel? Yup, that's how much a suite costs in Burj Al Arab Hotel. Did I just see your jaw drop?
This hotel is right in the heart of Dubai and it is distinguished as the tallest, the best, and the only "7-star" luxury hotel in the world, at the forefront in the ranks of the most expensive hotels today. Unlike other hotels, you cannot just barge in, if you are not a checked-in guest, you'd have to pay entrance fee of roughly US$55 just to get through the gates (which can be applied to a dinner if you intend to experience dining at one of their world-class restaurants). At night, you can see it glimmering exterior lights change to different colors. It's quite hard to describe, I can only say its really so beautiful!
The Burj Al Arab stands on an artificial island 280 metres (919 ft) out from Jumeirah beach, and is connected to the mainland by a private curving bridge. It is an iconic structure, designed to symbolize Dubai's urban transformation and to mimic the sail of a boat. Below is a photo I took of Burj Al Arab up close, while we were with some friends at the hotel next to it.
Not only does the billowing, sail-shaped structure have its own submarine ride to an underwater restaurant complete with shark-infested aquarium, it is reputed to have the world's fastest lifts, travelling at a eye-popping seven metres per second. The hotel's promoters say that more than 9,000 square metres of gold leaf, marble, granite and crystal have been used in the interior decor. (What????)
And with the very high rate you would pay as a guest, you can expect much pampering, they provide guests their very own chauffeur driven Rolls Royce, discreet in-suite check in, private reception desk on every floor and a brigade of highly trained butlers who provide around-the-clock attention, an assurance of a highly personalized service throughout your stay. (Another -- what???). Now, that is what you call "living the lifestyle of the rich and famous!
