Christmas With Friends

How was your Christmas day celebration? Ours was simple and quiet as usual. Hubby and I had dinner at home on the eve of Christmas and waited for 12 midnight (Philippines time) to strike before calling our immediate families back home.

It has been 4 1/2 years that we've been away from the Philippines, and we do miss celebrating the holidays with our families and close friends there. Although Christmas is also openly celebrated in Malaysia and Dubai (our 2 Christmases spent on each, isn't it ironic that both are Islamic countries?), the festivities and excitement in celebrating the holiday season is just not the same compared to the one you'd experience in the Philippines.

It is at such a time like this that we are most thankful for friends. What a blessing that hubby and I have always been surrounded with good company no matter where we find ourselves living! Getting together with friends somewhat helps in overcoming home-sickness, especially during this season. Recently, our cell group (our family here in Dubai), had our Christmas party at our house and it was so much fun! We were so encouraged with hearing a wonderful Christmas message from an invited guest speaker, we enjoyed so much the games, raffle and exchanging of gifts. It was a joy just hanging out and celebrating this special occasion with people close to you - eating, playing, laughing together, this special time with friends really made our Christmas this year very memorable.
